Terms & Conditions

These terms explain what LiteBill does, what you are responsible for, and the permission we require before a single bill is ever downloaded.

Last updated 20 July 2026

01

The agreement

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the LiteBill platform, console, APIs and related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account, starting a pilot, or submitting any electricity connection to the Service, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and the organisation you represent (“you”, the “Client”).

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Service. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you have the authority to bind that company.

03

Your authorization warranties

For every connection you submit, you represent and warrant on a continuing basis that:

  • The connection genuinely belongs to the Account Holder you have identified, and the details you supplied are accurate.
  • You hold a lawful, informed and freely given authorization from that Account Holder (or their duly authorized representative) covering bill retrieval and processing.
  • Any portal credentials you provide were supplied to you legitimately, with the Account Holder's knowledge, and you are permitted to share them with us for this purpose.
  • You will not submit a connection belonging to any person or entity that has not authorized you — including connections obtained from third-party lists, scraping, or purchased data.
  • You will promptly withdraw any connection whose authorization has expired, been revoked, or become disputed.
Fraudulent or unauthorized submissions
Submitting a connection you are not authorized to access is a material breach of these Terms. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, stop processing the affected connections, retain records required for our own legal defence, and — where the law requires it — report the matter to the relevant utility or authority.
04

Withdrawing permission

An Account Holder may withdraw their permission at any time. You must notify us without undue delay when that happens, and you can also remove the connection yourself from the client portal.

  • On withdrawal we stop scheduling any further downloads for that connection, normally within one business day.
  • We stop using the associated portal credentials and remove them from the active processing set.
  • Bills and extracted data already delivered to you remain your responsibility to handle under your own obligations to the Account Holder.
  • We retain a minimal audit record of the connection and its authorization history, because we are required to be able to show on what basis access occurred.

If an Account Holder contacts us directly to withdraw permission or dispute access, we may suspend processing for that connection while we verify the position with you.

05

What the Service does

Subject to these Terms, LiteBill collects bills for authorized connections, converts them into structured data, validates that data against configurable rules, retains the source document, and delivers the verified record to the systems you nominate.

  • We act as a processor working on your instructions for the connections you submit.
  • Automated retrieval depends on utility portals that we do not control. Portal downtime, layout changes, captcha changes or credential resets can delay or prevent a download.
  • Extraction and validation are highly accurate but not infallible. Records that fail validation are held for review rather than delivered.
  • You remain responsible for reviewing delivered data before relying on it for payment, statutory filing, or any other consequential decision.
No affiliation with utilities
LiteBill is an independent service. We are not a utility, DISCOM, government body, or payment agency, and we are not endorsed by or affiliated with any of them. We do not pay bills on your behalf.
06

Credentials and account security

Portal credentials you supply are used solely to retrieve bills for the connection they belong to. They are stored in encrypted form, are not exposed in the client portal after submission, and are never shared with other clients.

  • You must keep your LiteBill login details confidential and must not share a single login across unrelated users.
  • You must tell us immediately if you believe an account, API key, or set of portal credentials has been compromised.
  • You are responsible for activity carried out under your account, other than activity caused by our own failure.
  • We may rotate, revoke or refuse credentials that appear to be invalid, shared improperly, or obtained without authorization.
07

Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to:

  • Access any connection without a valid, current authorization from its Account Holder.
  • Harvest bills or consumer data in bulk for resale, marketing lists, or profiling unrelated to the purpose the Account Holder agreed to.
  • Attempt to defeat, overload, or disrupt any utility portal, or to circumvent rate limits or security controls on those portals.
  • Reverse engineer, resell, sublicense, or white-label the Service without our written agreement.
  • Upload malware, attempt to gain unauthorized access to our infrastructure, or interfere with other clients' processing.

Our full Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these Terms.

08

Fees, billing and pilots

Pilots are scoped in writing before they begin and may be limited by DISCOM, connection count or duration. Paid plans are billed as set out in your order or agreement.

  • Fees are exclusive of taxes unless stated otherwise; applicable taxes are added at the prevailing rate.
  • Invoices are payable by the due date stated on them. We may suspend processing on materially overdue accounts after notice.
  • Volume-based charges are calculated on connections activated and bills processed in the billing period.
  • Cancellation and any refund entitlement are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
09

Data ownership and protection

As between you and us, you own the bills and extracted data associated with your connections. We own the Service itself, including its software, templates, validation rules and interfaces.

  • We use your data to operate and support the Service, and to maintain security and audit records.
  • We do not sell bill data, consumer data, or credentials to anyone.
  • We may use aggregated, de-identified operational statistics (such as parser success rates) to improve the Service.
  • Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
10

Warranties and liability

The Service is provided on a commercially reasonable-efforts basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability.

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or anticipated savings.
  • Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or wilful misconduct.
  • You indemnify us against claims arising from connections you submitted without a valid authorization, or from your breach of these Terms.
11

Suspension and termination

Either party may terminate for convenience on the notice period stated in your order, or for material breach that remains uncured 30 days after written notice.

  • We may suspend the Service immediately where we reasonably believe connections are being accessed without authorization, where credentials are being misused, or where continued processing would expose us or an Account Holder to harm.
  • On termination we stop all retrieval, and you may export your data for 30 days.
  • After the export window we delete or anonymise your data on the schedule set out in the Privacy Policy, apart from records we must retain by law.
12

Changes, law and contact

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Where a change materially reduces your rights we will give reasonable advance notice; continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Delhi have exclusive jurisdiction, save that either party may seek urgent injunctive relief in any competent court.
